2008-2009 IPT
Scholarship Application Guidelines
The IPT department announces a competitive
scholarship for the 2008-2009 academic year that is open to all IPT
students. The purpose of the scholarship is twofold: to reward
scholarly accomplishments and to promote engagement in current scholarly
activities.
The total amount of the scholarship of
$2,315.00, to be divided among one or more students for one or more
semesters. University scholarship money is paid into the student's
BroncoWeb account and must first be used to pay course fees. Money that
is left over can be paid to the student in the form of a check.
Selection criteria
Successful applicants must:
- Have been fully admitted to IPT MS degree
program with "regular status.
- Have achieved a minimum cumulative GPA of
3.7 out of 4.0 (A-minus) in all graduate level courses.
- Have contributed to the positive
development of an IPT learning community in IPT classes and/or the
IPT Community listserv.
- Enroll in 5 or more credits in IPT courses
during the semester(s) in which they receive scholarship.
In addition, successful applicants must
demonstrate on or more of the following:
Recent scholarly accomplishment, which might
include:
- A paper presented at (or a proposal
submitted to) an IPT-related, national or international conference
(for example, ISPI, ASTD, E-Learning Guild) within the last year.
- An article published in (or a manuscript
submitted to) an IPT-related professional magazine or journal (for
example, PIQ, ETR&D, PIJ, T+D).
Current scholarly activities, which might
include:
- IPT thesis research (IPT593) to be
conducted within the next year.
- IPT-related research that is not the
subject of a thesis, to be conducted within the next year.
Application procedure
Submit the following documents:
- A 1-2 page cover letter requesting
consideration for the IPT scholarship.
- Other materials documenting either
scholarly accomplishment and/or current scholarly activity:
To document scholarly accomplishment, submit:
- A description of the accomplishment and
your contribution to producing it.
- A copy of the presentation handout or
proposal, journal article or submitted manuscript.
To document current scholarly activity, submit a 1-2 page proposal that
includes:
- The purpose or goal of the proposed
research.
- A brief review of the available literature
about the topic and a description of how the proposed research will
contribute to that literature.
- The activities you plan to carry out to
complete the research. If the research is to be conducted by a
group, describe the role you will play.
- A description of the way in which the
results of the research will be made available to the professional
community (for example, via a thesis, presentation at an IPT-related
conference or a manuscript submitted to an IPT-related journal).
