Educational Background:
Noelle Sweany received her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology with a
specialization in Instructional Technology from the University of Texas at
Austin and her B.A. in Computer Science from the University of North Texas.
Professional Experience:
Prior to joining the adjunct faculty at Boise State University, she was
an assistant professor of Instructional Design and Technology in the
Department of Organizational Communication, Learning, and Design at Ithaca
College, in Ithaca, New York, where she taught courses such as Instructional
Design, E-Learning, and Interactive Multimedia. Her research interests focus
on applying learning theory to the design, development, and implementation
of instructional technology, primarily examining how self regulation may be
enhanced through the development of technology-based tools.
Dr. Sweany has published her research and presented at national and
international conferences, including the annual meetings of the Association
for Educational Communications and Technology, the Association for the
Advancement of Computing in Education, the American Educational Research
Association, and the World Conference on Educational Multimedia, Hypermedia
and Telecommunications.
In addition to her academic career, Dr. Sweany has also worked in the
multimedia industry as both an instructional designer and multimedia
programmer for clients including Disney Interactive and Harcourt Brace.
