Current News:
Two recent research papers
by IPT students and Dr. Chyung have been accepted to the Performance
Improvement Journal and the Journal of Workplace Learning for
publication.
Her book "Foundations of
Instructional and Performance Technology" was published in January,
2008, and it is being used as a textbook in IPT536 Foundations of IPT
class.
Drs. Chyung and Winiecki
will present a seminar at Hanyang University in S. Korea in May. During
the seminar, they will introduce the foundations of the performance
technology field and discuss a critical perspective in researching the
way organizations measure performance.
Education Background:
Dr. Chyung received her Doctor of
Education degree in Instructional Technology from
Texas Tech
University. She received a Master's degree in Curriculum and
Instruction, with a specialization in Computer-based Education, from
Southern Illinois University,
Carbondale, IL, and a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from
Ewha Womans University,
Seoul, S. Korea.
She joined the Department of
Instructional & Performance Technology at Boise State University in 1996
as adjunct faculty and has been a full-time faculty member since 1999.
Teaching:
Dr. Chyung regularly teaches:
- IPT536 Foundations of Instructional & Performance
Technology
-
IPT525
E-Learning Principles and Practices
-
IPT584
Applications of Web Technologies (FrontPage,
ASP, VBScript)
She has also taught:
- IPT530 Evaluation Methodology
- IPT531 Overview of Research Design, Measurement, and
Statistics
- IPT537 Instructional Design
- IPT564 Motivation in IPT (formerly
IPT597 Special Topic)
Advising:
Dr. Chyung's advisees
(on-campus and online students) - Please review
the advisement FAQs. For more
information, contact her via email or phone, or in person.
Scholarly, Creative or
Research Activities:
Her research interests include
the development of self-regulated e-learning strategies for adult
learners, the facilitation of workplace informal learning methods, and
the use of technologies for organizational performance improvement.
Dr. Chyung published two
textbooks by HRD Press, and over 30 papers in professional and research
journals, and refereed conference proceedings. She has presented numerous
papers in regional, national and international conferences such as:
Dr. Chyung is actively involved in
grant writing and projects in collaboration with engineering faculty in
order to enhance the quality of engineering education by utilizing
innovative instructional technology and e-learning strategies.
