In addition to serving as an Adjunct Faculty member in the IPT Program at
Boise State University, I am an adjunct faculty member in the Graduate
School of Education at George Mason University, Fairfax, Virginia. In my
professional life I am President and CEO of EPSScentral LLC where we develop
performance centered methodologies and apply knowledge management, human
factors engineering, learning technologies, information technology, and
business process engineering to creating systems that humans can actually
use. EPSScentral sponsors the annual PCD Awards where we recognize
innovation in performance centered design for system and tools that make a
difference in performance.
I am a member of the International Society for Performance Improvement
(ISPI) and the Association for Computing Machinery. In 2003 I edited the
ISPI book EPSS Revisited which is comprised of specialty articles on
performance support that I gathered over a five year period, including
several written by my graduate students. I contributed to Using Computers in
Human Resources (Jossey-Bass, 1992), The Instructional Technology Handbook
(McGraw-Hill, 1993) and have authored many articles for industry
periodicals. My academic background includes advanced degrees in
mathematics, plus additional study in computer systems, nuclear engineering
and cognitive science. In my spare time I can be found blogging, playing
tuba and percussion, arranging and teaching music, writing articles for Drum
Corps World, writing fiction and listening to my iPod – a very
performance-centered device - while working out at the local gym.
