Effective Fall 2006:
- IPT550 Delivery Technology will no
longer be a required course for the degree and will be listed as a
3-credit elective. It will not be offered on the fall 2006 schedule.
It will also have a new course name -- IPT 550 Delivery Technology
in Instructional & Performance Technology.
- IPT529 Needs Assessment will
be one of the six 4-credit
required courses. It will be offered as a 4-credit course starting
the fall 2006 semester.
- IPT536 Introduction to
Instructional & Performance Technology will change its course name
to IPT536 Foundations of Instructional & Performance Technology.
- Students must have completed or be
enrolled in their 33rd credit, including all the required courses,
in order to take the comprehensive exam or portfolio defense.
- A student must be registered for
at least one credit during the semester or term of the comprehensive
examination. This registration requirement can be satisfied by
enrollment in any course for academic credit or IPT600 Assessment.
Effective Fall 2006 (not Spring
2007):
Frequently asked questions:
I started the IPT degree program before
Fall 2006, and...
Q:
I've been referring to a catalog (esp.,
the degree requirements) earlier than the 2006-2007 catalog. Should I
refer to the new catalog and follow the new degree requirements?
A: "Choice of Catalog Year -
A student enrolled in a graduate certificate or degree program may
choose to meet the program requirements defined in any graduate
catalog in effect after admission to the program. The final audit
carried out by the Registrar will use the requirements in the
graduate catalog specified by the student. If the student specifies
no particular catalog, then the program requirements in the current
catalog become the default selection." (BSU Graduate Catalog,
2006-2007, p. 27)
In the Q/As below, 'listing IPT529
as a required course' would mean that you are following the
2006-2007 (or later) catalog, and 'listing IPT550 as a requirement
course' would mean that you are following a catalog earlier than the
2006-2007 catalog.
Q: I have already taken
IPT529 when it was a 3-credit elective course. Can I list IPT529 on my
AAC form as a required course? If so, do I still have to take IPT550?
A: You can list IPT529 as a
required course and the number of credits that you earned from
IPT529 will remain 3 credits. If you list IPT529 as a required
course, you are not required to take IPT550, but you can take it as
an elective course. You should also make sure that you will complete
36 total credits. This may mean that you will have to take 1
additional credit. Discuss this with your academic advisor.
Q: I have already taken
IPT550 when it was a 4-credit required course. Can I still list IPT550
as a required course? If so, do I also have to take IPT529?
A: You should list IPT550 as
a required course. You do not have to take IPT529, but you may take
it as an elective course. Discuss this with your academic advisor.
Q: I have already taken both
IPT529 and IPT550. Which one should I list as a required course?
A: Since you have already
taken IPT550 when it was a 4-credit course, you should list IPT550
as a required course and IPT529 as an elective course. Discuss this
with your academic advisor.
Q: I have not taken either
IPT529 or IPT550 yet. Which one should I take as a required course?
A: The BSU graduate catalog
you choose to follow will determine whether 550 or 529 is the
required course. It is recommended that
you take IPT529 as a required course. If you choose to take
IPT550 as well, you will list it as an elective course. Discuss this
with your academic advisor.
