include
ASTD, ISPI, IBSTPI, and eLearning Guild.
American Society of Training
and
Development (ASTD)

The majority of students
enrolled in the IPT program are familiar with ASTD, and many are members of their
local chapter. ASTD best captures
the general training and development community which is one
of the
professional foci of many of the students enrolled in the
IPT program.
- Conferences - ASTD offers several
conferences, including its annual international
conference and exposition. IPT students, graduates, and
faculty have presented at the international conference.

- Publications - The trade journal ASTD publishes is called T+D.
ASTD Press publishes numerous resources.
- Local Chapter - IPT students and
graduates are also actively participating in the
Treasure
Valley Chapter of ASTD a as officers and members
(e.g., 2008 President, Gabby Hayes, President-Elect,
Janice Walters, Membership, Larry Petrie, Web
Communcations, George Aston are IPT graduates; other IPT
students/graduates who served as ASTD-TVC officers
include Janet Emery, Liz Johnsen, Betsy Micone, and Shelley Berg).
International Society of Performance
Improvement (ISPI)

ISPI is "the leading international
association dedicated to improving productivity and
performance in the workplace." IPT department is one of
the few sustaining members of ISPI, that are dedicated to
contribute to the society by improving the proficiency of
the members and advocating the use of Human Performance
Technology.
- Conferences - For the past 10 years, IPT
faculty have collaborated with IPT students to present at the annual
international conference. Visit the

- Publications - ISPI publishes a
trade journal called Performance
Improvement Journal (PIJ) and a research journal called
Performance Improvement Quarterly (PIQ), of which IPT
faculty, Dr. Donald Winiecki,
is a contributing editor. All 6 IPT full-time
faculty members and many other adjunct faculty have
published their articles in the PIJ and/or PIQ. IPT faculty
and students are also publishing their articles in the
'Tables from the Field' column in ISPI's monthly newsletter,
PerformanceExpress.
- Local Chapter - Two IPT graduates
(Jan Cook and Jodane Christopersen) have founded
ISPI's Idaho Chapter in 2007.
The International Board of
Standards for Training, Performance and Instruction (IBSTPI)

- Publications - IBSTPI has published
competencies for training managers, instructional
designers, and instructors. The IPT department has used
these competencies to align IPT curriculum with
industry standards.
The eLearning Guild
(http://www.elearningguild.com/)
The eLearning Guild is a
member-driven online information center and Community of
Practice" for the highly marketable instructional
designer/e-learning developer.
- Conferences - The eLearning Guild
hosts two major international conferences each year.
- Publications - The eLearning Guild
provides numerous resources helpful for e-learning
practitioners. Even with a free Associate Free status,
students can enjoy the benefits of searching jobs,
retrieving articles, etc. Drs. Chyung and Villachica are members of
eLearning Guild, and Dr. Chyung has published her
e-learning article in Learning Solutions E-Magazine.
