6th Annual ISPI Europe Conference
Heidelberg, Germany
November 1 - 3, 2007

IPT Assistant Professor Dr. Tony Marker was extended an invitation to present with past president of ISPI Camille Freond on two topics at their 6th annual conference in Heidelberg, Germany.  One presentation was based on his use of case studies in teaching HPT and the preparation of an HPT Casebook with IPT Department Chair, Dr. Don Stepich. His other presentation was based on his Sustainable-Organization Performance Evaluation (SOPE) model developed with IPT graduate Liz Johnsen '06 and IPT student Christina Caswell. The SOPE model is the first model of its kind to actively promote a bottom-line balance between environment, social, and financial considerations when evaluating if performance interventions are successful. Freond is currently using the model with an Italian theater group and is continuing to develop a case study around it. The conference theme was Dealing with Contrasts in Europe.

Carol Panza, recipient of the Distinguished Service award from ISPI at the 2007 conference in San Francisco, introduces the performance simulation at the beginning of the conference. Ed Schneider and Howard Lee play a company CEO and Operations Officer respectively. The simulation challenged participants to analyze a performance problem, communicate HPT to a client, and make a proposal at the end of the conference to get that client's business.

Ed Schneider, in his role of CEO, discusses the business issues at hand with his Director of Marketing (Camille Ferond, Italy) and Executive VP of Human Resources (Adolf Theron, South Africa).

Arnoud Vermei, a Master's Series presenter at ISPI's 2007 conference, (The Netherlands) and Carol Panza (United States) discuss the simulation they designed in order to help practitioners explain HPT to clients.

The narrow winding road leading up to the castle provided lost of interesting architecture to enjoy. The building on the right is impressive but isn't part of the castle itself.
