What is
instructional and performance technology (IPT)?

IPT is about improving human learning and performance in the workplace and helping organizations achieve their goals.
Human learning and performance improvement in
the workplace requires more than training or education alone.
Therefore, the IPT program educates students to be open to
various solutions to help individuals and organizations
achieve their goals. In the IPT program, students explore many factors that affect job performance, such as knowledge and skills, job expectations, task design, human factors, ergonomic and environmental factors, incentive systems, feedback systems, tools, job aids, and resources. Students learn how to think strategically and design interventions that will address all the needed factors (in addition to training or
education) to achieve the desired results. They learn how to
define and clarify those results and how to implement
solutions that impact human performance.
Why should you pursue an IPT
master's degree or an HPT graduate certificate?
IPT is a professional degree program.
Before considering to earn a M.S. degree in IPT and/or a
graduate certificate in HPT, it is important that you
evaluate your own educational and career goals, and see if
the IPT degree or HPT certificate would be a good match for
you.
If you are working, or pursuing
careers, in the fields of instructional design,
e-learning, training, workforce
development, program
evaluation, or performance consulting, the
IPT master's degree or
the HPT
graduate certificate programs will help you improve your
professional knowledge and skills and further advance your
careers. See
testimonials to learn more about how IPT
students/graduates have benefited from earning the IPT
master's degree.
