Students can earn a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in
Instructional & Performance Technology (IPT) and a graduate
certificate in Human Performance Technology (HPT) by taking
either on-campus courses only or online courses only or a combination of
both types. Online courses also make it possible for students
who are relocated before finishing the on-campus program to
complete the degree/certificate from their new location.

 On-Campus Learning Environment
On-campus courses are held in classrooms in the Engineering
and Technology (ET) or Micron Engineering Center (MEC)
buildings. All
classrooms are equipped with state-of-art multimedia
presentation facility, and located close to the IPT faculty'
offices, which helps students easily contact their instructors
to seek advisement outside the classroom.

Online Learning Environment
 Online classes are
conducted through asynchronous computer conferencing using
Lotus Notes course database system, which is also available
through its web version.
 Why Lotus Notes?
We have chosen Lotus Notes as our online instructional
delivery medium for many reasons. Particularly,
using Lotus Notes, students can work on their coursework
offline after they receive information from the server.
Using its web
version, they can also have access to their course databases
from anywhere in the world. These offline and online
options are especially helpful to full-time working professionals
who need flexibility in time (within any given week) and
location. Unlike other web-based course management systems, Lotus
Notes allows students as well as instructors to use various
word-processing and multimedia features, and to keep a complete copy of each course DB on their
computer for future reference.
The IPT online courses are entirely self-supporting and
are not subsidized by state taxes. Therefore, the IPT online
course fee is different from the on-campus course fee. A
discounted rate is available for Idaho residents and active
U.S. military personnel. See

The online program uses the same admission
and academic standards as the on-campus program.
Evaluations show that students in both on-campus and
online courses are enthusiastic about the rigor and value of
