Graduate Certificate in Workplace E-Learning and Performance Support (Online)

The IPT department also offers a graduate program leading to a certificate in Workplace E-Learning and Performance Support (WELPS). The graduate certificate in WELPS is intended for students who wish to develop skills in developing and managing e-learning and performance support solutions in the workplace. The program emphasizes the competencies required to design, develop, and manage workplace e-learning and performance improvement systems.  The 15-credit program is made up of existing e-learning and performance improvement electives that are offered on campus and online. See the application procedure.

Simultaneous Enrollment in a Graduate Certificate Program and a Degree Program

A student may be simultaneously enrolled in the Master of Science in Instructional & Performance Technology program and the Graduate Certificate in Workplace E-Learning and Performance Support program subject to the approval of the student's advisor, the Graduate Program Coordinator, and the Dean of the Graduate College. Please note that admission to the certificate program does not guarantee admission to the degree program and vice versa.

A student who is not enrolled in any graduate degree program at Boise State University may be enrolled in the Graduate Certificate in Workplace E-Learning and Performance Support and the Graduate Certificate in Human Performance Technology with written approval of the Graduate Program Coordinator. Please note that admission to one certificate program does not guarantee admission to another certificate program, even if the programs are closely related. Simultaneous enrollment in more that two graduate programs (certificate or degree) is prohibited by the Graduate College. Credits earned in this certificate program may be counted towards elective credits in the Master of Science in Instructional & Performance Technology.

Fully-admitted IPT degree-seeking students can still apply for the graduate certificate in WELPS, as long as they have completed only one (1) of the certificate courses (see above course list). This is in accordance with the graduate catalog's "two thirds" policy, in which two thirds of the total credit for a certificate must be earned after being admitted. If more than one of the certificate courses have been completed, a student is no longer eligible to apply for the graduate certificate in WELPS.
