The 2009 ISPI case study competition



A Call for Applicants

The International Society for Performance Improvement (ISPI) has invited the Department of Instructional & Performance Technology at Boise State University to participate in the 2009 ISPI Case Study Competition.

The 2009 ISPI Case Study Competition will consist of teams from 5 predetermined universities. Each team will be made up of 4 graduate students and a faculty sponsor. The competition will be conducted via a web portal beginning in January 2009 and concluding with an in-person presentation at ISPI's Performance Improvement Conference in Orlando, Florida in April 2009.

Team members will be expected to:

  • Participate in a teleconference orientation on January 9, 2009
  • Log in to the Case Competition web portal at least once a week during the competition (January through March 2009)
  • Work as a team to prepare six deliverables
    1. An analysis plan
    2. A development log (at least 12 entries-1 per week)
    3. A 5-8 page executive summary of the case presentation
    4. A detailed final report to the client
    5. A PowerPoint slide deck with 20-30 slides to be used during the case presentation
    6. A 40-minute case presentation to a panel of judge
  • Present your response to the case study at the ISPI conference (date to be determined)
  • Attend the ISPI conference awards banquet on April 22, 2009

In return, all members of the IPT team will receive:

  • Free registration to the 2009 ISPI Performance Improvement Conference
  • 2 credits of IPT595 (Readings and Conference) during the spring 2009 semester that can be applied toward the IPT degree-paid for by the IPT department.
  • Reimbursement of travel and hotel expenses up to $700

In addition, members of the winning team will receive:

  • Free ISPI membership for 2010
  • Free conference registration fees for the 2010 ISPI conference
  • An invitation to present at the 2010 ISPI conference
  • $500 to be applied toward a CPT application or purchases from the ISPI bookstore

If you are interested in participating in this exciting project, please send an email message to Dr. Don Stepich at dstepich@boisestate.edu BY WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 2008.  Your message should state your interest in being considered for the IPT Team and your agreement to meet the expectations for the project if you are selected for the IPT team. Final selections of the team members will be made by the IPT faculty.
